In my words
Prevention requires responsibility of all, including patients. Being proactive is important - the patients become part of their own healthcare team. Feeling like you are contributing (within limits of course) makes patients feel empowered and contributing to their overall positive outcome.
Prevention can involve behaviours and physical conditions that can lower a person’s risk of cancer. It is estimated that nearly 50% of cancers can be prevented through healthy eating and active living, as well as through regular cancer screening and the implementation of health-promoting policies.
